Good vs Evil and such

Timing! As I provide this first input, MSNBC is rebroadcasting the original running coverage from 09/11/2001, Fox News is broadcasting the 7th anniversary memorial service from The Pentagon with the president and the Sec of State, CNN is covering the various news items from today. Talk about providing perspective of Good vs Evil! No need for an allegory in this story.

Which brings us to clarifying our standing disclaimer – that of us not being experts in anything other than our own Star Wars fascination: Tim and I are interested in the greater tides of our home galaxy, as with the ebb and flow of the battle of G v E in our times. If you are here to only provide criticism without constructive input, that’s the stuff of tide pools. We are sure you can find another cantina in which to get stewed. Our podcasts and this blog are simply arena in which to visit and share this interest of ours and we heartily welcome good humored conversation.

With that said, more simply we also love some light saber battling; galaxies with spaceships making sounds in deep space; artificially intelligent robots helping people farm moisture; Kit Fisto, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Plo Koon, Aayla Secura; the crashing first notes that accompany the crawling first words; Mace Windu kicking some bounty hunter butt (me); Mace Windu getting marginalized by his head-of-state foe and soon-to-be apprentice (Tim); entering and leaving planetary atmospheres with the ease of going to the grocery store; Hoth; and on and on and on...

Who knows where the advenure will take us!

I want to reply on the blog post associated with the 9/11 podcast, but it ain't up yet, bro!

With regards to drawing parallels between Al Quaeda and the Empire, I'll say that religious fanaticism is a much better explanation for group willingness to perpetrate evil than loyalty to a government, although Nazi Germany showed that the latter could also be proven possible.

I still have a hard time believing that there were that many (the large number of military on the Death Star) who so blindly follow orders as to contribute to the destruction of 1.6 billion people just because Grand Moff orders the destruction of Alderaan on a whim, to punish Leia. I mean without cries of death to the infidels, where was the moral compass for these folks, but then again, where was the moral compass for Nazi troops and sympathizers when millions of jews were led off to their death.

To Bradford - I think you have missed a calling: Your abilty to put your esoteric jibberish into blog is astounding. I applaud good use of the English language! It would be hard to neglect the theory of references in Star Wars to the whole Nazi thing. Nothing new here. Certain am I. --Jethro

I would laud an attempt to delve a smidge more into the Nazi parallels to the Star Wars saga.

Fellas-
Just found out about your show, and it wasn't bad!

I don't feel like the DS attack was terrorism in the way that the 9/11 attacks were perceived as terrorism. It was military aggression, I'll give you that, I just don't think it is totally comparable.

Personally, I don't believe that the attack was by a band of religious/nationalist extremists. I don't think the towers were taken down by 2 planes, either. Regardless, it WAS one hell of a spectacle, and that fear of terror boogeymen and sudden rise in national solidarity seems more on par with Order 66. Strings were pulled by the government to gain more control over the galaxy. The bulk-purchase soldiers of the GAR were spread all throughout the galaxy to fight Seps, but now can remain as enforcers. The Jedi are painted as traitorous villains who were supposed to overthrow the Senate, and who attacked and disfigured their charismatic and beloved leader. The public ate it up because it was contantly in fear of Sep attacks and chaos. Since the Seps were led by the Trade Federation - corporate entities - I can bet the economy was also in the toilet. Please, let's not discuss Hutt hyperspace routes here ;)

So, all of this led to the squashing of the villainous Jedi, the absorption of all the separatist assets, planets and trade routes into Repub- er, Imperial control, and the Galaxy rejoices over the great victory. By the time they figure it out, it's too late.

I have some other comments for you guys, but I'd rather email them. Is there a way for me to email you through blogger, or you can contact me through voiceofrep@gmail.com
